CHOGM road in Porvorim is under attack once again. This time however, it is the sewerage works that are underway by a private agency, that is engaged in digging up the road at several places, to push through a 20-inch sewer pipe, by boring through hard soil and rock. A few of these pits have been back-filled, leaving behind loose earth and large craters that are proving dangerous to motorists. We are thus back to square one it seems, as the beautifully tarred road is once again in a bad state. It is not known how long the residents of the area and motorists will have to put up with this inconvenience and danger, unless the PWD takes up the matter on a war footing to ensure that the dug up portions are restored to their original condition by the contractor soon after completion of the works.
