CANACONA
A 79-year-old woman from Canacona died of Covid after she tested positive on Tuesday.
According to health sources, the woman from an area in Canacona municipality, who got infected through a contact, was initially house quarantined, but shifted to the Covid hospital, where she succumbed to the virus on Friday.
This is the fourth death in Canacona taluka, after two persons died while seeking treatment in the Covid hospital while one deceased had been found to be Covid positive.
According to health sources, seven new cases were detected on Friday, taking the total to 452 Covid cases in the taluka.
The new cases detected in Poinguinim, Bhatpal, Khola, Palolem, Bhagatwada and Gaondongrim, included a CHC staffer and a woman who had delivered a baby only on Wednesday.
While 2 persons have been shifted to the Covid Hospital, the CHC staffer has been shifted to a Covid care centre at Margao and the others are under home quarantine.
