CANACONA
A new time-frame has been set for the inauguration of the Ravindra Bhavan in Canacona. Minister of Arts and Culture, Govind Gaude, announced that the state-of-the-art cultural hub will be dedicated to the public before the end of August after inspecting the ongoing works.
Gaude, along with Arts and Culture Director Sagun Velip, officials from GSIDC, consultants, and contractor engineers, conducted an inspection of the project. They discussed suggestions and issued directions on various works that are underway and nearing completion.
GSIDC officials mentioned that the chairs for the main auditorium would arrive in the next 8-10 days. The minister noted the need to shift the first row to create sufficient space and found the dug-out for musicians and technical assistants to be too deep.
Pending tasks include sound installation and testing, installation of chairs, and completion of the AC plant. The media highlighted additional issues such as leakages, moulding of granite on staircase railings, and the need for artwork at the main entrance. The minister also suggested beautifying the open space outside the main gate with a retaining wall and pavers.
Minister Gaude directed Arts and Culture Director Sagun Velip to ensure that staff, including security and administrative personnel, are deployed a week before the inauguration. He also provided guidance on creating a modern library and making classrooms more student-friendly.
A final inspection involving local talents will be conducted to check for any necessary modifications or additional changes to ensure the best facilities at the Ravindra Bhavan. Most of the work is in its final stages, and the government plans to dedicate the Canacona Ravindra Bhavan to artists and art lovers by the end of August.
