The appointment of ex-Goa Congress Chief Girishbab Chodankar as the chairman of the screening panel of Jharkhand, going to the polls in November this year, seemed to have left his camp back home in a jubilant mood. For, Girishbab’s ardent supporters see his latest appointment as the head of the screening committee to shortlist party candidates for the Jharkhand polls not merely as trust reposed in him by the party High Command, but a reflection of the influence he enjoys in Delhi. Girishbab’s loyalists hope that success in Jharkhand would keep him in good stead in the Congress scheme of things. Wait and watch.
Cong leaders' Delhi visit causes flutter in party
The recent visit to Delhi by a group of Congress party functionaries has become a talking point in both the party circles and outside. While the group has returned home, tongues, however, have been left wagging over the exact purpose behind their visit to the national capital. Questions are raised about whether the visit was in connection with recent moves by a section of the party demanding a change in party leadership. Sources even say the group had even prepared a memorandum to be submitted to the party leadership in Delhi and whether the group had an audience with central party leaders. Any questions?
BJP's move to remove ZP chiefs bewilders workers
BJP’s sudden move to get the South Goa Zilla Panchayat Chairperson Suvarnabai Tendulkar to step down from office is a subject matter of debate both within the party and outside. In fact, many have been trying to figure out what has prompted the party leadership to get the ZP chiefs of both North and South Goa to put in their papers. There’s another question doing the rounds in ruling party circles – who will succeed Suvarnabai as the new South ZP Chief? For the moment, BJP ZP members nor party leadership from down south have indications over Suvarnabai’s successor. Wait and watch.
Partymen stunned by 'reward' for Suvarna's LS campaign work
BJP party directives to South Goa Zilla Panchayat Chairperson Suvarnabai Tendulkar have come as a shocker for party workers, more so when many had expected Suvarnabai to complete her five-year term next year. For, the ZP Chairperson is one BJP leader, who had crisscrossed the length and breadth of the South Goa Lok Sabha constituency throughout the campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. In fact, party insiders say Suvarnabai had accompanied party candidate Pallavibai Dempo across the constituency. As she braced up to quit office, a BJP ZP member wondered whether the party diktat to Suvarabai to quit office was a "reward" for her work during the polls. Any questions?
Sunburn controversy continues to haunt IDC chief Reginaldo
He wriggled himself out of the raging controversy when the IDC Board headed by him rejected plans by Sunburn to hold the EDM festival at Quitol. Curtorim MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco, however, is back under the scanner of activists and citizens opposing Sunburn in South Goa after representatives of BookMyShow surveyed the IDC land at the Verna plateau earlier this week. Whether it’s Quitol or Verna, none other than Reginaldbab knows for sure that both friends and foes will not let him go scot-free for the simple reason that he heads the IDC. He also knows for sure that unlike Quitol, which falls in the Quepem constituency, the Verna plateau is located next door. Wait and watch.
