Canara Bank holds financial inclusion camp in Chimbel

Canara Bank organised a Financial Inclusion Saturation Camp on September 16 at the Village Panchayat, Chimbel, to spread awareness and help villagers enrol in key government social security schemes.

The camp focused on schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).

The event was attended by senior officials from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Canara Bank. Chief guests included Prabhakar Jha, Regional Head, RBI Goa; Sandra Rodrigues, Deputy General Manager, RBI; and Deepika Negi, Assistant General Manager, RBI. Also present were S.K.L. Das, General Manager, Canara Bank; Rati Kanta Dora, Regional Head, Canara Bank; Gopal Kelkar, Lead District Manager, North Goa; Sandesh Shirodkar, Head of Chimbel Panchayat; and Vishal Gajanan Signapurkar, Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Chimbel.

Over 150 villagers participated in the camp, receiving information and on-the-spot enrolment support. 

The initiative was aimed at reaching the underprivileged, elderly, women, and marginalised groups, bringing financial and social security benefits to their doorstep.

Canara Bank said the programme reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the government’s mission of inclusive growth by empowering citizens with access to essential financial services.
