LONDON
The decision of pubs and nightclubs to cancel Goan functions for the summer season on account of a brawl in Hounslow will severely affect a number of Goan artistes and event managers in and around Hounslow.
Many of the bands, DJs, emcees and event managers depend on such shows at pubs and nightclubs for their livelihood.
Incidentally, the Summer Fest, which was planned at a pub in Hounslow from 7 pm to 12 am on August 27, had featured two DJs, an emcee and guest appearances.
When contacted, a Goan event manager who spoke to The Goan on condition of anonymity, said many businessmen hailing from other States in India have also been reluctant to employ Goan youth in recent times.
“This is because, many Goan youth are irregular in attendance and aggressive in behaviour. At times, they even report to work under the influence of alcohol. This bad reputation will seriously affect many Goans in search of jobs,” the event manager said.
