Campal's heritage precinct turned into a showcase of automotive heritage on Saturday morning as the “Timeless Wheels on Heritage Goan Streets” vintage and classic car rally rolled out from Francisco Luis Gomes Garden.
Organized by the Goa Vintage & Classic Vehicles Club in collaboration with Rajdeep Builders and Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd, the event drew an enthusiastic crowd who lined the streets to admire rare automobiles.
The rally was flagged off in the presence of Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira, IPSCDL MD Sandip Jacques, Rajdeep Builders MD Rajesh Tarkar, GVCVC President Gautam Kakode, and CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate.
Participants drove through Panaji’s heritage quarter before concluding near Old Patto Bridge, with the cars kept on public display until the afternoon.
Among the highlights were immaculately restored Volkswagen Beetles, Mercedes-Benz classics, and family heirlooms lovingly maintained by local collectors. Organizers said the rally was not only about showcasing vintage engineering but also about preserving Goa’s cultural identity and activating public spaces.
Mayor Monserrate described the event as a “tribute to history and craftsmanship,” while enthusiasts noted the emotional value of restoration, with many vehicles passed down generations.
For visitors, the rally offered both nostalgia and spectacle, reinforcing Panaji’s reputation as a city that embraces heritage.
