The carcass of a sea turtle was washed ashore at the Benaulim beach on Tuesday morning.
After the matter was reported to the forest department, a team was deputed at the beach to carry out the post mortem examination.
Benaulim fisherman Pele Fernandes said the carcass of the sea turtle was washed ashore on Tuesday morning. “Immediately, we informed the authorities of the carcass lying on the beach. A team had come to conduct the post mortem examination,” he said.
Pele said the traditional fishermen from Benaulim had been in the forefront to rescue sea turtles found entangled in fishing nets.
