Residents in Gaondongrim are upset with the location of a newly installed electricity transformer, claiming it is too close to the road and has no protective fence, thereby endangering motorists travelling on the road. Concerned residents have resorted to an unusual barricade by erecting bamboo sticks near the transformer to caution motorists of the danger.
According to residents, a new 11 KV transformer recently installed by the roadside has been without fencing or protection at Nanem-Gaondongrim.
“They have installed, energised and left this electricity transformer without any protection or fence. This is a serious threat to vehicles, pedestrians and stray animals,” informed a resident.
Another resident informed that locals have now placed some bamboo sticks to caution motorists about the electricity transformer.
Incidentally, this 11 KV transformer was recently installed for the underground power cable in the village.
