As the appointment of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s OSD Atmaram Ramkrishna Barve as the State Information Commission has kicked up a row of sorts, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has said that he did not agree to propose Barve’s name for the post.
Making his stand clear on the issue, the Opposition leader pointed out that he had raised his apprehension for the same since Barve is the OSD to the Chief Minister. He pointed out that he had made it clear that neutrality will be compromised in the event Barve is made the SIC, even though it was clarified to him that Barve possesses the required eligibility under section 15(3) of the RTI Act and his name is considered on merit.
Sources said that the name of Atmaram Barve was proposed by the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar on the ground that he possesses the required eligibility under the RTI Act.
