CANACONA
Archbishop of Goa and Daman Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrao on Sunday said prayers not only bring people closer to God but they also become a beacon of hope for God's will towards humanity.
Cardinal Ferrao was delivering his homily at Mass after blessing the newly constructed new Blessed Sacrament Chapel, a sacristy and a garden in honour of Blessed Carlo Acutis at St Anne's Church, Agonda.
Pilar Society Goa Provincial Fr Mathew Fernandes, SFX (an ex-parish priest of Agonda), Agonda Parish Priest Fr Patrick Louis, Assistant Parish Priest Fr Baltazar Fernandes and Capuchin Fathers, Ordhofond Superior Fr Newton were the concelebrants at the Mass.
“The more we pray, we not only get closer to God but we also live in conformity and become a beacon of hope for God's will towards humanity,” said the Cardinal.
Special prayers were also conducted for the peace and harmony of the people in Manipur.
Cardinal Ferrao invited the faithful to regularly visit and pray in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, which is located in the Parochial House adjacent to St Anne's Church, and placed the Holy Sacrament into a specially designed altar in the replica of a ship caught in a storm.
A garden in honour of Blessed Carlo Acutis has been constructed adjacent to the Church providing an entrance to the Chapel, while the sacristy has been constructed adjacent to church hall.
Goa Provincial Fr Mathew Fernandes read out the decree in the presence of members of Fabrica Da Igreja de Agonda, SMI (Sisters of Mary Immaculate) Sisters, Agonda, and other church bodies. The St Anne's Agonda Junior Choir led the congregation in the hymns and music.
