Archbishop of Goa and Daman Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão released the book ‘Bhagevont Nomune’ at a solemn function at St Lawrence Chapel, Arossim-Cansaulim, to mark the Silver Jubilee celebrations of New Age Printers.
The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Fr Jose Remedios Fernandes, Fr Ave Maria Alphonso, Fr Mario Souza, Fr Victor Rodrigues, Fr Ashley Alphonso, and the author, Fr Myron Jeson Barreto.
‘Bhagevont Nomune’, which translates to ‘Blessed Examples’, is a short biographical compilation of saints who have journeyed the path of holiness. The book aims to inspire readers to walk in their footsteps and lead lives rooted in faith, hope, and love.
Each chapter offers a succinct and moving glimpse into the lives of saints, making their stories accessible to readers of all ages.
Cardinal Ferrão lauded the efforts of Fr Myron Barreto, stating, “Fr Freddy J Da Costa was a passionate writer who worked zealously in the vineyard of the Lord. Fr Myron is carrying forward that same legacy, both as an author and as the manager of New Age Printers.”
He encouraged the faithful to read the book, reflect on the lives of saints, and find inspiration to become true witnesses of Christian values in today’s world.
The book is dedicated to the late Fr Freddy J. Da Costa, visionary founder of New Age Printers, whose mission was to use the power of the printed word to evangelise and uplift. The preface of the book is penned by Canon Alfredo Vas, President of Cathedral Chapter.
Fr Myron Jeson Barreto, who hails from Sadolxem, Canacona, currently serves as the Chaplain at St Lawrence Chapel and manages New Age Printers, Verna. He also holds the role of Secretary of the Dalgado Konknni Akademi.
A prolific writer, Bhagevont Nomune marks his tenth publication. He is a recipient of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar and is widely respected for his contribution to religious literature in Konkani.
