Carmona sarpanch asked to attend GSIDC meet to pursue development works

The Carmona gram sabha on Sunday adopted a Rs 29,644 surplus budget for the year 2020-21 presented by Sarpanch Allwyn Jorge.

The issue of the development of the football ground by the panchayat was also brought up by the members. The sarpanch informed them that the panchayat had already approached the local MLA Churchill Alemao and also the Chief Minister for funding the proposal, estimated to be around Rs eight crore, through the GSIDC. He clarified that the panchayat did not have enough funds at its disposal for developing the ground. 

He further informed the members that he had met the CM and the local MLA to sanction the twin projects of the football ground and the Carmona Sports  Upgradation Project through the GSIDC.

The issue of unavailability of a doctor at the Carmona Rural Medical dispensary also figured at the gram sabha. Members also demanded a seven-bedded hospital and up-gradation of the RMD to a full-fledged health centre to which the sarpanch assured to write to the Directorate of Health Services on the issue.

Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao, who attended the meeting at the fag end, requested the sarpanch to attend a meeting with the GSIDC  to pursue the development works in the village. 

Churchill made the statement after the sarpanch highlighted the various works undertaken by him and thanked the MLA for arranging the four-day Aadhar card camp in the village. 

The sarpanch requested the MLA to pursue the proposal of the football ground, the sports up-gradation project and also the promised Rs 50 lakh to village panchayats under the  Swayampurna Goem initiative. The panchayat also requested the MLA to provide high mast Lamps at the Carmona church and the community hall and also four-arm lights at various other places in the village.

The sarpanch informed the gram sabha members that funds amounting to over Rs  40 lakh under XIV Finance Commission are available with the panchayat which may be forfeited back to the centre for non-utilization.

The panchayat used the occasion to felicitate the Electricity Department staff attached to Village Carmona namely Junior Engineer Govind R Bhat,  lineman Ravindra Pednekar, Dhiraj Naik, Sikander Sheikh and Umesh Borkar for their dedicated services in the village.

The panchayat also felicitated 11 self-help groups in the village under the Swayampurna  Goem initiative and distributed a cheque of Rs 3000 each to these.
