MARGAO
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Girish Chodankar on Sunday said the State Congress party has faced many wars and has emerged victorious time and again, even as he asserted it was capable enough to intercept and destroy the rockets fired from NDA territory under the control of the BJP in Goa.
“Those who are still controlled by Home Minister Amit Shah should first show guts to come out of the National Democratic Alliance headed by BJP and then preach to others on opposition unity,” Girish said, a day after Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai launched a scathing attack on the GPCC chief.
“Today, some political parties are spreading false rumours and fake posts to show Congress as weak so that they get another opportunity to share power with BJP. But, these tricks won’t work anymore as people have realised the hidden agenda of these local political outfits,” he said.
Girish further said the people of Goa want Congress to be honest and answerable to Goans. “Learning from the past, we are now working hard to regain the trust and confidence of the people. People want the Congress party to emerge stronger and stand united to teach BJP and all its allies as well as A, B and other teams of BJP a lesson,” he added.
Asserting that no political party has any right to attack Congress on the “Join Congress slogan” for ongoing digital membership drive, Girish said, “We are committed to strengthen our party and get absolute majority in the upcoming elections.”
Congress party high command and local leadership are answerable to the people of Goa and not to those who betrayed people’s mandate to share power with BJP, he added.
Standing strong by the ideology and principles of the party is the true spirit of democracy, the GPCC chief said turncoats and party hoppers have destroyed the politics in Goa. Winning people’s trust is above anything else, he added.
“Congress made honest efforts to fight against BJP’s misrule right from 2012 when these local outfits were eating the cake of power sitting on the same table of corruption,” he added.
