Carmona VP asks political parties to pay for banners

MARGAO
The Carmona Panchayat has issued a demand notice amounting to Rs 4500 on the Congress party for putting up banners without the permission of the panchayat.

Sarpanch Allwyn Jorge told the media that as part of the panchayat’s public notice asking political parties and others to remove all illegal banners in the village, the panchayat have seized banners of Congress, AAP, RG and some independents. No permissions for banners will be issued in future to anyone unless the fines are paid up by the concerned parties, he said.

He said demand notices for fines will also be sent to other political parties to pay up their fines. “Overall we want to arrive at a policy whereby no banners are put up in front of religious places or in front of the panchayat office. Also, the number of banners per party will be restricted to protect the overall outlook and demography of the village.”
