MARGAO
The Carmona Panchayat has unanimously endorsed the Power Minister’s streetlight policy and resolved to give its consent to the same.
Sarpanch Allwyn Jorge informed that the streetlight policy is very innovative considering the fact that panchayats cannot afford to maintain the streetlights on its own with its meagre funds and limited resources. “Other panchayats also should see reason and the advantages of his policy and reciprocate positively to bring progress in their villages,” he added
Saying that Carmona village has been suffering due to non-functioning lights with the maintenance team playing truant, the sarpanch said though the panchayat members had some reservations about the policy, it was unanimously resolved to endorse it in the interest of the village.
The sarpanch thanked the Power Minister for providing a counter to collect electricity bills, adding that the panchayat has also written to the minister to sanction total renovation of the entire 220 volts distribution system and expect a positive response on its proposal.
Further, the panchayat has also resolved to develop the football ground by utilising its own funds as promised at the last gram sabha. The sarpanch informed that the development of the football ground has been a dream of the villagers and the current body will ensure it becomes a reality at any cost.
