In a major day light burglary, unknown miscreants barged inside an apartment at Sirvodem-Margao and decamped with cash and gold ornaments on Tuesday evening.
The burglary came to light when the apartment owner Carmelina Aguair Pinto and her daughter returned home at around 8.10 pm only to find the lock on the iron gate open.
The lock on the wooden door was also found open. Their worst fears came true when the duo went inside, only to find their bedrooms ransacked and valuables including cash and gold items missing. Carmelina is trying to find out whether she had kept her gold necklace
and bangles in the locker or has been stolen by the miscreants.
Her daughter’s silver and gold ornaments have also gone missing. A complaint in this respect has been lodged with the Margao police, which is investigating the incident.
A local residet Nevin Gomes informed that burglaries have been on the rise around Sirvodem while demanding the police intensity night patrolling to keep the robbers at bay.
