Casinos and liquor outlets across Goa will remain closed for 24 hours on October 2 on account of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, as the State observes a dry day. The Department of Home (General) has directed casino licensees to suspend gaming operations from midnight on October 1-2 to midnight on October 2-3, covering the entire day of October 2, as a mark of respect to Mahatma Gandhi.
The government has also declared October 2 a dry day across the State. The Office of the Commissioner of Excise has informed liquor licensees and the public that all premises authorised to sell liquor in packed bottles or for consumption must remain closed on October 2. The closure applies across Goa for the duration of the dry day.
