In a meeting between government officials and few offshore casino staff, it was decided to park all vehicles of casino staff and customers at the Patto parking
plaza.
For security and identification reasons, casino staff vehicles will have special stickers stuck on it and the vehicle details will be given to tourism officials.
The Goa Tourism Development Corporation, who is the custodian of the parking plaza, has agreed to have a scheme for parking fees for the casino staff vehicles.
The casinos have decided to provide hop-in-hop-out services to its customers who park their vehicle in the parking plaza. Also, a carpool service will be provided by the casinos to their
customers.
It was also decided to provide a two-wheeler parking facility at the parking plaza on the ground floor while the other four floors will be used for car parking four hundred vehicles -- hundred on each floor.
Meanwhile, in a CCP meeting held on Friday, it was decided to implement a pay parking model for the vehicles parked along the two major roads in the city. “Initially, pay parking will be implemented on 18th June Road and Atmaram Borkar road. We also plan to make the stretch from Miramar circle to Corporation Bank a no parking zone. We will send a demand to the collector to notify the same. In the near future,
we will also implement pay parking on the Miramar to Sharada Mandir school road in addition to the 31 January road and Rua St Thome internal roads,” Mayor Uday Madkaikar said.
The tendering for the pay parking will be done immediately. The council meeting has decided to fix a rate of Rs 20 on an hourly basis for four-wheelers for the initial two hours and subsequently Rs 10 for additional one hours. For two-wheelers, Rs 5 for the initial two hours and subsequently Rs 2 for additional hours.
“Residents of buildings in Panaji will get a pass for one vehicle,” Uday said in conclusion.
