Taxi operator arrested for wrongfully restraining GoaMiles driver

A week after the Colva police arrested eight tourist taxi operators from Varca for threatening a Goa miles drive at Varca, the police on 

Friday registered yet another case and arrested a tourist taxi operator following a complaint lodged by a 

GoaMiles taxi driver.   

Following a complaint lodged by Imran Khan Doddamani, aged 23 years, a taxi driver of Goa Miles, and a resident of Moti Dongor, Margao a case was registered under section 34 and 506 IPC against Jose Afonso.  

The GoaMiles taxi driver claimed that on June 14 at 2.10 hours, near Zuri hotel, Varca, he was wrongfully restrained by Afonso from proceeding inside the hotel to pick up his passengers. 

The complaint further stated that Afonso further threatened the complainant 

that he will not allow him to enter the 

Zuri hotel premises. Jose Alfonso was brought at the police station and placed under arrest in this case. 

Further investigation is in progress.
