Cavelossim sarpanch to launch civic works on 50th birthday

Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz, who turns 50 today, will mark the occasion by launching several development works and initiatives in the panchayat area.

Vaz is also the founder of the Goan Seamen Association of India.

The day’s programme begins with a thanksgiving prayer at Holy Cross Church, Cavelossim, at 7 am, followed by a dental check-up camp at the club grounds at 9.30 am. A public programme and interaction session will be held at the panchayat hall from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm.

Several projects will be launched during the programme at the panchayat hall. These include installation of solar panels and an air-conditioning system for the panchayat building, commencement of work on the Cavelossim tinto and a pickleball court, renovation of the primary school building to accommodate offices for Self-Help Groups and the Biodiversity Committee, construction of modern bus stops, beautification of the Mobor Cross area with railings and pavers, and construction of a welcome arch and walkway at the beach.

Other works include rejuvenation of water sources and commencement of a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for waste segregation and recovery.

Vaz has also undertaken repair works on dilapidated houses, provided ambulance and mortuary facilities, and raised issues related to beach encroachments and stray dog attacks with the authorities.
