CB raids gambling dens at Margao and Canacona

PANAJI: Crime Branch of Goa Police raided two gambling dens at two locations in South Goa and seized gambling money and articles.

In the first raid conducted on Friday night near the old railway station at Margao, accused Manjunath Yaragatti (28) was caught red-handed while accepting matka bets. Cash amount of Rs 15,900 and gambling articles were seized.

During the second raid conducted on Saturday afternoon at Chapoli, Canacona, a total of Rs 22,000 was seized from accused Ram Raikar from Canacona while he was accepting matka bets.

Both the accused persons were placed under arrest and FIRs were booked under section 11(2)(a) of Public Gambling Act have been registered.
