The court, however, could not examine Tawadkar since the investigating agency CBI sought some time, prompting the court to adjourn the matter to June.
In this case which was investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation, young Manguesh Gaonkar and Deelip Velip were burnt alive in the Achal cashew factory premises on May 25, 2011 after an irate mob set the building on fire, hours after the tribals under the banner of United Tribals Alliance Association (UTAA) blocked rail and road traffic and clashed with police in support of their 12-point charter of demands.
The UTAA-police clash had left dozens of government vehicles on fire and many policemen injured.
Later in the evening, a mob marched towards the Achal and Adarsh buildings and set them afire along with the vehicles parked outside the building, apparently in retaliation to the road blockade by United Tribals Alliance Association activists.
Though the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had initially booked a case of murder against 15 person, the accused are presently being tried under section 304 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
