Newly elected Curchorem Cacora Municipal Council Chairperson Prasanna Bhende on Saturday inspected tents which have come up in an open field near the Curchorem market.
The tents have been reportedly erected by some migrant labourers.
After the issue was brought to his notice, Bhende personally inspected the site as the area is infested with reptiles and mosquitoes and could endanger life.
While assuring that steps would be taken to remove the tents, Bhende said his office has also reported the matter to Curchorem Police as the migrants are using the area to set up overnight tents despite efforts by the Curchorem Cacora Municipal Council to make them aware of safety concerns.
Bhende informed that few days back, the council had shifted some families from the same site to a safer location.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, Bhende procured four weed and grass cutting machines which shall be exclusively used to clear roadside bushes within the municipality.
