MARGAO: The tender floated by the Centre to expand the Cuncolim-Navelim road on the NH66 may not ring in good news for the villagers of Chinchinim.
For, the residents of Dandeavaddo had been waging a long battle in support of their demand for the construction of a road bypass instead of a flyover.
PWD, NH officials has informed that the Centre has proposed to expand the Highway on stilts passing through Dandeavaddo in Chinchinim village, indicating that demand of the villagers for a road bypass has not found favour with the government.
A month ago, the residents as well as the Chinchinim Panchayat had made a request to the Comunidade body for NOC for the construction of the road bypass. In fact, Chinchinim Sarpanch Frank Viegas had told the media armed with the NOC, the Panchayat body would make a renewed request to the government to consider the long-pending demand to build a road bypass instead of an elevated corridor.
