Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shripad Naik on Saturday handed over appointment letters to 266 candidates from the ‘Goa region’, all of whom were recently recruited to various Central government departments under the Rozgar Mela initiative.
Out of the total, a maximum of 204 recruitments are in the Department of Posts. Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, also present at the event hailed the move stating the first tranche was filled on the occasion of Dhanteras.
While addressing the appointees, Naik described how an ecosystem of entrepreneurship and employment generation was created through various initiatives of the Central Government.
“These measures will have a multiplier effect on the economy and the country,” he said, assuring that the government will complete its goal of 10 lakh recruitments in a time bound manner.
Post Master General of Goa region Sayeed Rashid took the opportunity to present the dignitaries with ‘Philatelic Passports’ and ‘My Stamps’.
In all, 75000 appointment letters were handed over to new recruits across the country in its first tranche following the initiative’s launch on Saturday.
Rozgar Mela initiative aims to recruit 10 lakh candidates into various Central Government Departments across the country over a period of one year.
