Chandor resolves to collect waste of wards with vehicle before disposal

MARGAO

With residents objecting to the setting up of a material recovery facility (MRF) in the village, the gram sabha of Chandor on Sunday resolved to collect the waste from the wards with a vehicle.

At the gram sabha meeting chaired by sarpanch Estefan Dias, the issue over the MRF and the collection of waste took the centre stage, wherein it was resolved that the panchayat would collect the waste collected in the various wards with a vehicle before its disposal.

The sarpanch later told the media that the panchayat had in the past moved the file to set up the MRF. He, however, said that since objections have come to the proposed facility, the panchayat has for the moment decided to deploy a vehicle to collect the waste.

On questions raised over the delay in executing work on the footpath at the football ground, the sarpanch further informed that the contractor will commence the work within the next eight days. He said the work of constructing the footpath will be taken up by the contractor along with the illumination.
