MARGAO
The Chandor gram sabha on Sunday witnessed an uproar after gram sabha members demanded to know the status of the two open spaces which were gifted to the panchayat in the year 1983.
The gram sabha also adopted a resolution calling upon the government to re-open the Chandor level crossing road, which was permanently closed for traffic by the railways.
At the gram sabha meeting chaired by sarpanch Estefan Dias, the gram sabha members demanded that the panchayat secretary lodge a police complaint to investigate into the two plots.
Sarpanch Estefan Dias told the media after the gram sabha that the members demanded to know the status of the two plots (open spaces) which were gifted to the local body.
“The gram sabha members have claimed that the two plots admeasuring around 1,600 square metres were gifted to the panchayat way back in the year 1983. They have demanded to know whether the panchayat is in possession of the two plots or not,” he said, adding that gram sabha has demanded that the panchayat secretary lodge a FIR to unearth the facts about the two plots.
The Sarpanch informed that the issue will be discussed at the Panchayat meeting before a decision is taking on the registration of a FIR.
He said the gram sabha unanimously resolved to demand reopening of the Chandor road level crossing for the benefit of the people.
