Chapora riverwater floods Agarwada saltpans

PERNEM
Water from the Chapora River have flooded the saltpans after the sluice gates broke at the Agarpoi baandh in Agarwada-Pernem.

Bhagwan Parab and Krishna Naik, owners of the saltpans, alleged that the contractor who had built the Agarpoi baandh had installed poor quality sluice gates and the water from the Chapora River had flooded the saltpans.

“GTDC Chairman Dayanand Sopte had helped us get water pumps to pump out the water from the pans to start production of salt. Now, we will have to restart the entire process. We request Sopte to help us get the pumps again so we can start the work afresh,” said Parab.
