Special decorations for Ganesh Chaturthi put up in a house at Mestawada became the talk of the town attracting visitors from far and wide.
Though the Ganesh idol worshipped is not a Sarvajanik Ganesha, a lot of people have begun visiting the Chari Family house to see the decorations depicting a forest made by a group of children who are all in the age group of 8 to 14.
The pandal resembles a forest where Ganesha idol is placed and the trees and leaves are made of paper and iron binding wires.
According to the family, the children (cousins ) who had come from different places in Mestawada for Ganesh Chaturthi decided to put their lessons learnt in school to use and make decorations only of bio-degradable materials without using thermocol at all.
The children also decided that they will have a theme of “plant more trees and save environment “ for the Ganesh idol in their house .
Om Chari, who made the decorations, said it took them around 6 days to complete the decorations and they wanted to ensure that the decorations spread a message of Green Goa to the society and residents in Vasco.
Another member of the group, Swati Chari appealed to residents to avoid use of thermocol to make decorations as Ganesha would be more happy if the nature created by him would not be destroyed by using non-degradable materials like plastic.
