Although there is no ban on firing crackers, Mapusa Police Sub-Division in general dos and don’ts for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi has advised people to avoid bursting of firecrackers in public.
The police have also requested people not to burst crackers late in the night and early in the morning.
“We have advised the organisers of Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals not to burst firecrackers late in the night and early morning and also avoid bursting crackers in public places during the immersion procession,” said Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi.
He said the organisers have also been requested the organisers to install CCTV cameras at the Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals along with a proper monitoring system in place to monitor the movement of visitors.
The Mapusa SDPO organised a meeting with all the Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandal committee members of Mapusa Police Sub-Division.
Mapusa PI Shitakant Nayak, Anjuna PI Prashal Dessai and Colvale PI Vijay Rane were also present for the meeting.
In the jurisdiction of Mapusa Police Station there are 11 Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals, while there are four in the jurisdiction of Anjuna Police Station and five in Colvale Police Station jurisdiction.
The organisers of Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals were also requested to arrange the volunteers who will be deployed round the clock for identification. They were told to provide the list of the volunteers to the local Police Stations in advance.
They were requested to arrange fire extinguishers at the site to prevent fire incidents.
The Mapusa SDPO informed that adequate police staff will be deployed at each and every Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals of Mapusa Sub-Division.
