Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Wednesday said the Chicalim Sub District Hospital, which has been facing acute staff shortage, would get additional staff soon.
He was speaking to reporters after he along with the Vasco BJP Minority Cell and Vasco fruit vendors distributed fruits to patients in the Chicalim Sub District Hospital in the presence of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Leo Rodrigues, councillors and other members of the Vasco BJP Mandal.
"When we realised that the hospital is facing staff shortage, we already sent a note to Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, who assured to place staff immediately at this hospital. The procedure for recruitment of staff has already begun and we will get the required staff very soon,” said Salkar.
“This hospital has very good infrastructure and it is necessary that the facility must be put to complete use. While all equipment is state-of-the-art, there is shortage of doctors mainly because some doctors don't want to work in government hospitals. I am confident that additional doctors, nurses, staff and technicians will be recruited at this Hospital.”
Salkar said the initiative of fruit distribution was taken under the Seva Pakhwada to commemorate the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues and Vasco BJP Minority Cell President Vaeed Shaikh thanked the fruit vendors for their support to the cause.
"Fruit vendors have always stood by our support and this is for the first time that Vasco fruit vendors will be distributing fruits along with us to patients in the hospital along with Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar," said Rodrigues.
