Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho has re-opened the Jogger's Park at Dabolim, after it had been closed for the public during the lockdown.

Chicalim Panchayat Sarpanch Seby Pereira and other panch members were present on the occasion.

The Jogger's park was re-opened following requests from residents ever since the nation began to remove lockdown restrictions.

"People used to walk on the roads while the park was closed and now after it has opened, I request the public to use the park responsibly and not damage items or use the place for antisocial activities," said Godinho.

Godinho also said work on Phase 2 of the Jogger's park would begin within 45 days.

"The park will not be closed during work on Phase 2, which will involve additional facilities and amenities like a modern food court, adding of better walking materials, a creche for small children, a digital library for senior citizens, open air and indoor gyms for youth and a water harvesting project.”

“The vacant area will be converted to entertainment space for small parties, functions and dances, which will be hired out by the panchayat.”

“Land outside the park will host a Mahila Bhavan for training with kiosks to sell their products. These amenities are being added so that it can generate some revenue like a self-sustainable model to have better security, better gardeners and money for water tankers at times. The park should not be a burden on the Panchayat," added Godinho.
