Residents of Ranghavi Estate in Chicolna have complained of erratic power supply and constant voltage fluctuation, which have damaged several home appliances over the last few months.
Speaking to reporters, a resident, Rukmini Kamat, said that there has been frequent power cuts that have damaged appliances like TVs, refrigerators, ACs and computers.
“Since the cyclone in mid-May, the situation has gone worse and since the last few days, we have had very poor supply and we have complained several times but nothing has worked," said Kamat.
Another resident, Viraf Bharucha, said the power supply had deteriorated to such an extent that there were no street lights on the main road from the Airport Road to Bogmalo leading to their colony since the cyclone.
"We are in close proximity to the naval security area but our residential colony is in darkness. We have spent thousands of rupees to replace our damaged appliances. The electricity department has not paid heed to our requests and we are left to suffer here," said Bharucha.
A resident, Prafulla Hede, said the government must resolve the issue as there are patients in some houses, students with online classes and people working from home.
