VALPOI
The forest department has placed a cage in an attempt to trap a leopard that has been sighted in Solaye-Honda.
The leopard has created panic in the village after it entered the same house twice on May 25 and June 20, with a CCTV camera capturing the leopard entering the house on both occasions.
The aggrieved locals led by local panchayat member Pratiksha Gawde had marched to the forest department office in Valpoi on Monday and threatened a protest if the forest department did not trap the leopard within two days.
In a bid to trap the leopard, the forest department has placed a cage in Solaye.
When contacted, Valpoi Forest Officer Deepak Tandel said measures have been taken to trap the leopard following a complaint by residents.
