MARGAO
With no solution to the waste dumping forthcoming, the Chairperson of the Goa State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights Peter F Borges along with officials descended at Sao Jose de Areal for an inspection of the garbage black spot on Monday evening.
The black spot is located on the border of the panchayats of Sao Jose de Areal, Davorlim and Curtorim, which has been inconveniencing travellers, including the school children.
After the inspection, Peter Borges lamented that a solution to the waste problem has eluded the authorities to date. “We had taken cognizance of the garbage dumping given that the road is being used by the school children. In the last three months, we have been trying to find a solution, but nothing positive has been seen. The site is cleaned regularly, but the waste keeps returning immediately,” he said.
Saying the solution to the problem lies with the bodies controlling the panchayat areas, Borges said all three panchayats should make efforts to for a permanent solution.
Salcete BDO N Faldessai informed that all three panchayats would be taken on board to ensure the spot remains clean.
