Chimbel Sarpanch Mohini Narve was ousted after the no-confidence motion against her was passed by 8-3 votes at a special meeting held in the panchayat hall, on Tuesday.

Deputy Sarpanch Chandrakant Kunkolkar chaired the meeting and panchas Manisha Chopdekar, Rajesh Vernekar, Rosy Uttukuri, Shoban Borkar, Nilesh Shirodkar, Shruti Kunkolienkar and Sunil Golatkar voted in favour of the motion, while Mohini Narve, Mohan Narve and Rofam voted against the motion.

EOVP Anil Dhumaskar was the observer for the meeting while panchayat secretary Ashish Naik recorded the proceedings, which have been submitted to the Director of Panchayat. The Director will now decide on the date for election of a new sarpanch.

Till then, Kunkolkar will be the acting sarpanch.

The no-confidence motion had generated much interest as sources had informed that the sarpanch’s husband and panch Mohan was reportedly planning to expose corruption in the panchayat, which was the reason why the no-trust motion was moved.

But after the sarpanch was ousted, there was not even a whimper probably because the opposition camp was prepared to face any corruption charges levelled against them by stating that the sarpanch should be held responsible for any corruption occurring during her term.
