A group of citizens from Chinchinim on Monday demanded to know the rationale behind the PWD, National Highway’s decision not to erect rumblers at the accident-prone Dandeavaddo road junction.
The citizens led by Dammy Coutinho along with the South Goa district Congress president Savio D’Silva called on the PWD engineers and set a five-day deadline for the authorities to erect the rumbler sticks.
They pointed out that the rumbler sticks were removed from the junction when the highway road was tarred recently. However, they claimed that while rumbler sticks at other accident-prone areas have been restored, the Dandeavaddo junction has been ignored by the PWD.
The PWD engineers sought to convey to the delegation that the rumbler sticks have not been erected due to objections lodged by the senior citizens and others in view of the noise pollution.
