Chinchinim Panchayat members and citizens on Thursday cried foul over the erratic power supply in the village and have called for streamlining the power supply.

A delegation led by Chinchinim Sarpanch Valentino Barretto called on Power Department assistant engineer Santosh Sawant, highlighting the electricity issues plaguing the village.

The delegation explained to Sawant how the erratic power supply has caused hardships to the villagers, pointing out the damages caused to electrical appliances due to frequent voltage fluctuations.

Sarpanch Valentino and the panchayat members drew the attention of the assistant engineer that non-functioning street lights are not replaced by the department. They pointed out to Sawant that the department has no stock of the lamps as a result of which many a road remains in darkness for days together.

The assistant engineer was requested to beef up the manpower as the staff deployed at Chinchinim office not only look after the Chinchinim-Deussua area but the neighbouring villages of Sarzora and Dramapur as well.

Saying the village suffers from frequent power outages, the delegation has called for upgradtiaon of the transformer to boost the power supply to the villagers.
