Concerned over the rising number of Covid cases in the village, the Chinchinim village panchayat has decided to make a fervent plea to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take a wise decision as was taken earlier in handling the emerging situation.
The panchayat, which discussed the situation, said the government should either go for the closure of the state borders or think of lockdown.
Sarpanch Inacinha Rebello said the panchayat will request the business community to cooperate and ensure that they observe Covid-safety norms such as social distancing and use of masks.
Deputy Sarpanch Valente Barretto said the panchayat will call upon the neighbouring panchayats to come out with a common decision in the interest of the villagers.
Valente pointed out that the absence of proper data has aggravated the situation, with neither the panchayat nor the citizens having any idea about the availability of beds and ambulances to shift patients.
“We do not blame anyone, but the creation of a database will help the people access logistics such as ambulances and beds,” he added.
