Kicking off Swayampurna Goa 2.0, the initiative to up Goa's self-sufficiency quotient, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan interacted virtually with farmers, elected representatives of panchayats and swayampurna mitras where he stressed on returning to natural farming methods.
Chouhan, who debuted in the Union cabinet after nearly two decades as chief minister of Madhya Pradesh stressed on natural farming as he casually interacted, albeit virtually, with Goa's Swayampurna Mitras, sarpanchas, panchas, farmers and rural women from SHGs.
The Union Minister also dealt with the role of agriculture and horticulture development in Goa's economic progress. Chouhan's virtual interaction was streamed at several dozen locations across Goa, including Sanquelim where Chief Minister Pramod Sawant participated.
Swayampurna Goa 2.0 is focussing on agriculture and rural development to up the State's self-sufficiency quotient in primary products. Sawant said Chouhan's wide experience in rural development during his time as chief minister of Madhya Pradesh helped the farmers and rural women gain some valuable tips at Saturday's interaction.
