Fr Bismarque, of his own accord, had left the exercise of his priesthood and dedicated himself to various social causes affecting Goa, Fr Olavo Caiado the spokesperson of the Goa Archdiocese has said.
A statement issued, aims to clarify the facts of the case “in the light of some confusing reports and misleading statements appearing in some sections of the media.”
According to Fr Caiado, since 2010 Fr Bismarque had left the service of priesthood and as a former member of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament, with its Provincial Headquarters in Mumbai, Fr Bismarque was under the direct jurisdiction of his Provincial Superior, as is the case of all Religious who are governed by their competent Superiors following their own specific norms.
“We pray that all concerned may adhere to the truth in this unfortunate tragedy and seek eternal repose for the deceased, Fr Bismarque and Christian solace for his dear mother and members of his family in these trying moments,” Fr Caiado said.
“The Archdiocese of Goa and the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament have been expressing their solidarity with his family in this painful situation. They have also been closely following the case of his death, without publicising their efforts, to see that a proper investigation is carried out by the relevant authorities, so that the truth of the matter may be brought to light,” the statement titled ‘Archdiocese prays for enlightenment for all,’ reads.
