Churchill’s close aide loses, but new Colva sarpanch claims allegiance to MLA

Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao’s close aide and sitting Sarpanch Menino Fernandes has lost the election for the post of Sarpanch, but newly-elected Sarpanch Anthony alias Mam Fernandes told the media that his group owes allegiance to the Benaulim MLA.

Menino lost the battle for the post of Colva Sarpanch to Anthony Mam by 5-6 votes, saying one of the panch members back-stabbed him, resulting in his defeat.

Anthony Mam, on the other hand, claimed that his group is aligned to the Benaulim MLA.
