Churchill slams AAP

MARGAO

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao on Saturday hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party, demanding to know where was AAP and its leaders when he had resigned from the Lok Sabha to launch an anti-Mopa agitation around 2006.

A day after AAP accused the Benaulim MLA for fooling the people of Benaulim and Goa on the Mopa airport issue, Churchill said his opposition to the project still

stands.

“I am opposed to Mopa and my opposition still stands. But I had abstained from voting on the Goa (Mopa Airport Development Authority)

Bill since I did not want to be a party to its passage,” he said.

On AAP’s criticism that he had supported the controversial TDR Bill in the just concluded Assembly, Churchill shot back saying he had supported it to save the decades old Colva Church.

“If the RP-21 is accepted without the changes case by case, the Colva Church will come right within the road widening area. I have supported the Bill to save the Church. I will soon call a meeting of the people of Colva on this issue,” he said.
