A group of citizens from Madel led by Milagres Fernandes on Wednesday descended at the Gandhi road, the starting point of the Comba ring road at Old market and found a table erected at a shed along the roadside to conduct godgoddo gambling.
The group called up the Fatorda police, which later came and seized the table and some material from the makeshift shed.
Milagres told the media that the citizens decided to act since the godgoddo gambling at Madel-Fatorda posed threat to the citizens, including women and children.
“When we made our presence felt at the makeshift shed, we found a table on which there was godgoddo gambling material. It is indeed shocking that the gambling activity started inside the shed at 5 pm,” he said, while demanding to know how the activity was going on without the knowledge of the authorities.
“We decided to find out and verify reports that godgoddo gambling has started at the Gandhi road. To our shock and surprise, gambling was indeed going on inside the shed,” he said while demanding that the authorities nip the activity in the bud by initiating action against the organizers.
