VASCO
A day after the Fair Price Shop (FPS) owners made a noise stating that the replacement of bad quality rice issued to them was not viable considering the costs involved for exchange, the civil supplies department are now planning to arrange a vehicle to facilitate the exchange of bad quality rice.
Sources in the civil supplies department said a Civil supplies inspector personally visited some Fair Price Shops in Vasco and surrounding areas.
"During the visits, officials found bad quality rice at some FPSs and they were asked to keep the rice bags aside. The inspector will continue the visit to other Fair Price Shops on Saturday. The civil supplies department in Mormugao has been in discussion with the civil supplies director,” said a source.
“There are plans to arrange a vehicle to collect all bad quality rice and transport it to the Cortalim godown and to hand over good quality rice to the FPSs who had received bad quality rice," said the source.
