VASCO
Officers of the civil supplies department along with police and other officials carried out joint checks and raids on various establishments and eateries in Vasco.
Mormugao Civil Supplies Inspector Sangita Morajkar said the department wanted to check if the eateries were using domestic LPG cylinders for cooking purposes instead of the commercial cylinder that is mandated for eateries and commercial outlets.
“We conducted surprise visits and we found some eateries using domestic cylinders. The officials of HPCL and BPCL were present today, and while we can seize the cylinders, authorities will take a call on further legal action, which could include fines as well," said Morajkar.
"We had received complaints that domestic cylinders are being used in fast foods and eateries and we carried out surprise raids with our team to check on such complaints. We will carry out random visits to different locations and different establishments in Vasco.”
“We have seen that many fast foods use domestic cylinders and this sometimes creates a shortage wherein people don't get a proper supply of domestic cylinders on time and people start complaining," said Morajkar.
