BJP leader and Power Minister Nilesh Cabral while coming down heavily on Claude Alvares of Goa Foundation said, he has no morals and ethics, and if the latter continues to disrupt mining industry by knocking doors of court, then Goans will have to teach him a lesson by throwing him out of Goa.
“Today people of Goa are suffering due to suspension of mining. There are many families and their children dependent on mining industry. Claude Alvares is not bothered of this. He has no morals and ethics. He thinks he has support of people. He is individualistic. If again he goes to court to disrupt the mining activities then we will have to throw him out of the State. I will lead that movement if such a situation arises,” Cabral said.
The positive speech of Nilesh Cabral brought happiness to the mining dependents staging a dharna in Delhi.
“The chief minister has written to law and mining ministry to bring in the required changes in law to start mining. He has also spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I request him (PM) to take a call to restart mining, which will benefit Goans. Kindly take right direction and advise your government to bring in the changes. Goans were always with you and will remain with you,” Cabral said.
However, Cabral also said that he is not bothered of those who may have got hurt to see him supporting mining dependents in Delhi. “They may even remove me from ministerial post or any other. I am not bothered and I am with them,” he said.
He has appealed to all political parties to keep their political differences aside and support Goa to restart mining by bringing changes in law in Parliament session. “I am not against the national policy of auction. But can the auction policy take back the sacked employees,” he questioned.
According to Nilesh Cabral when the MMDR Act was passed in 1987, the concession year was put as 1957. If this is replaced with the year 1987, then mining can continue till 2037. “It should be implemented from 1987,” Cabral, representing mining belt Curchorem constituency, said.
