A video clip claiming to show a large crack on Zuari bridge went viral on social media on Thursday, causing panic and alarm among people and taxi operators in Mormugao taluka.
Traffic authorities later confirmed that the video clip was fake and ruled out any such crack on the Zuari bridge.
The 20-second video clip, which reportedly shows a large crack on the bridge was quickly shared and circulated by WhatsApp, triggering alarm among motorists and commuters.
Many were confused and sought to verify the contents of the video clip, especially since the video clip briefly showed the Cross near the Zuari bridge and a number of motorists stopped near the crack on the bridge.
Several tourist taxi operators at the airport were afraid to take passengers headed towards North Goa, while some motorists and commuters began frantically calling friends and relatives to get the latest updates.
Many had also sought to enquire if the bridge was repaired or if it was safe to cross the bridge in the evening.
