Responding to demands
for better healthcare facilities in remote parts of Sattari taluka, the State government has approved a 12-bedded hospital in Poriem-Sattari.
There has been a strong demand for a hospital to cater to the needs of people in Keri, Morle, Poriem and Honda villages, with frequent requests put before the local MLA and former chief minister Pratapsingh Rane.
In the absence of
health facilities in these areas, people have been forced to travel 15 kms to visit the Sakhali Community Health Centre.
With the government approving a 12-bedded hospital in Poriem, it would benefit about 40,000 people in Keri, Morle, Poriem and Honda villages of Sattari taluka.
When contacted, the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane confirmed that the proposal had been moved before the government and said a 12-bedded hospital had been sanctioned in Poriem.
“The hospital will be commissioned on a priority basis as it will benefit the rural areas of Keri, Morlem, Poriem and Honda, besides a part of Pissurlem,” said the Health Minister.
“The health department has decided to provide healthcare to the doorsteps of people and many activities are being initiated
in this regard,” Vishwajit added.
Local MLA Pratapsing Rane welcome the government’s decision to set up a 12-bedded hospital in Poriem, as it had been a long-pending demand of people in the area.
“When this hospital is
set up in Poriem, it will
provide health facilities to people within a radius of 7 kms, which would cover about four panchayats,” said Pratapsing.
